There’s no studio behind Playalike, just a dad with little time.

The big question every evening

I’m a father of two. Once the kids are asleep, there’s often only a small window left for gaming. And that’s exactly when the same question comes up every time: what do I play now? Not just whatever is topping the charts or on sale, but something that really fits me.

Why Playalike searches differently

Genres are surprisingly little help with that question. Two role-playing games can feel completely different, while a survival game can hit exactly the spot I love in an RPG. So Playalike compares games across 20 traits such as combat, story, atmosphere and difficulty, and looks for the same feeling rather than the same label. That way the little time you have goes into a game that’s worth it.

To be honest: vibecoded

Playalike is “vibecoded”: I described what I had in mind, and an AI wrote the code together with me. Without that, I could never have built a project like this alongside family and everyday life. So not everything here is perfect yet, which is exactly why I appreciate every bit of feedback.

What your coffee is for

Playalike is free and has no ad banners. Still, there are running costs: servers, game data and the AI analysis of the games. A coffee helps cover them and motivates me to keep building in the evenings instead of just playing.
